Tomasi Seru believes that a bigger challenge awaits him in the Tailevu Zone and later the Coca-Cola Games in April.
The Ketei, Totoya, Lau native won the sub junior boys javelin event for his Bau House during the Queen Victoria School inter-house competition at the Nukuvuto ground yesterday.
Seru’s no throw in his first attempt motivated him to throw his best of 33.86 metres. The Year Nine student knows the extra work he needs to put in to build-up his performance.
“This is my first year to participate in the Coca-Cola Games and I know the competition will be tough starting from the Tailevu zone right up to the Coke games,” he said.
“There are many good throwers around the country but I will prepare myself accordingly and ready for any challenge. It will be dedication and sacrifice that will assist me to achieve my goal.”
The 13-year-old stood firm after failing in his first attempt.
“After getting a no throw in my first attempt, I kept on believing and reminded myself that I will get this gold medal. I thank God for his guidance and for giving me this win,” he added.
