Shakil Pillay And Bella Cho Scoop 2023 Club Championship

National rep Shakil Pillay shot four under to clinch the Long Run Fiji/Neritak Equipment- sponsored Club Championship 2023 men’s title at the Denarau Golf Course, last Saturday.

And five shots behind Pillay was defending champion Abid Hussein who shot 74.

Pillay said with this title in the bag, he has turned his focus to the Pacific Games in Solomon Islands, later in the year.

Fiji Open women’s winner Bella Cho took out the ladies’ category, where she shot even par 72 while evergreen Amy Subam carded 73.

Veteran Sulu Brook (95) took out the B-grade, while Janice Hinton (79) claimed the nett. Joy Leslie (110) took out C-grade and best nett was Carol Wright (95).

RSR director Renita Reddy thanked all the golfers who graced the annual event in a big way.

“To those that participated, I hope you all had a good tournament,” she said.

She also thanked Denarau Golf and Racquet Club manager Amitesh Chandra and his team for keeping the greens in tip-top form.

Chandra said, “Our members need to be well looked after as well. These members do pay for their membership fees, which is big when you think about it.

“We are thankful to the sponsors for coming on board once again.”

In the professional category, Ba lawyer Vikrant Chandra and Zoheer Ahmad shot one over par 73 to share the winner’s prize purse.

This is after the duo continue to tie in the five-hole play-off.
