While this will be her first Olympic as an international technical official, it is her second appointment. She received the offer in September.
Shaw-Elder’s first appointment was for the Tokyo 2020 Games, however, she was unable to travel as her whole family got COVID-19 with a member seriously ill. She turned down the offer.
Meanwhile WF is hopeful that homeboy Pacific Games gold medalist Taniela Rainibogi qualifies for the Paris Games.
“I’m very thankful for International weightlifting for appointing me, they believe in my capabilities to be in Paris,” Elder said.
“This is an exciting year for us; Rainibogi still has two qualifying events; one in New Zealand next month (February) and the other in Thailand in March.

“Right now, we are concentrating on Rainibogi to qualify for Paris.”
With other local competitions lined up for the year, hosting the Commonwealth Games qualifier in September highlights WF’s calendar of events this year.
WF has booked the Vodafone Arena from September 16-28 for the qualifying event.
Fiji will also host the World Master Championship from September 23 to 29.
Meanwhile the Oceania Weightlifting Championships for seniors, juniors and youths will be held in Auckland, New Zealand on February 21-25.
