Singh, Khem Put Labasa In Sanatan Semi

Goals from Labasa football reps Ravinesh Karan Singh and Anish Khem were enough to send Makoi out with a 3-1 win in the quarterfinal of the Pratap Ashpalt sponsored Shree Sanatan IDC at the Tuva Primary School ground, Nadroga yesterday.

Singh scored two goals and Khem scored one while Joseph Mishra pulled one for Makoi but was not enough as they bundled out of the competition.

Labasa Sanatan president Nilesh Lal said, “We were optimistic for a grand outing. The boys played good football and we became the first team to qualify for the semifinal.”

The Navinesh Akash captained Labasa side had to await the outcome of the Nasinu – Lautoka match as this edition went to press last night.

In other anticipated matches, Wairabetia was scheduled to take on Uluisila. The Garib Chand coached Navua side face defending champions Suva once again.

National Sanatan Sports wing president Pravin Singh reiterated that for the first time in the history of the IDC, a prize purse of $20,000 is at stake alongside 40 trophies.

“We expect top notch competition in the three days football extravaganza.

The competition was great.” Meanwhile, Nasinu and Nabua played in the final of the Shree Sanatan Dharm Nari Sabha Inter-District Championship netball.

The host Tuva veterans netball team created history as they retained the title for the record eighth year in a row.
