Skipper Cup: Namosi Indiscipline Worry

Namosi need to crack the whip on indiscipline if they are to beat Suva in the third round of the Skipper Cup Premier­ship at Thomson Park, Navua this Saturday.

The Akuila Nasi –coached side managed to beat Tailevu 27-17 to score their first win in the competi­tion.

But Nasi must be disappointed with how his team did not get the maximum result.

And this was because at one stage they played with 13 men after prom­inent Fiji Airways Flying Fijians squad members Serupepeli Vu­larika was a red- carded for a dan­gerous tackle and skipper Mosese Voka was yellow carded for a high tackle in the second half.

The disadvantage not only allowed Tailevu to score two tries which were both converted but denied Na­mosi a bonus-try win.

Early in the second half, Namosi led 27-3 before the two players were sent off in the third quarter.

Tailevu pounced on the shortfall and scored two tries, one to former national rep Samu Bola.

It was fortunate that Voka man­aged to control the game on his re­turn.

Namosi started with a bang with Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors rep Johnny Dywer scoring the first try before Tailevu scored their points through a penalty.

Vularika extended the lead kick­ing a penalty. Aseri Robanakadavu scored their second try which was converted by Vularika for the host to lead 17-3 at halftime.

Vularika extended the lead with another penalty before he was sent off, 20-3.

Namosi s third try was scored by their first five eight which was con­verted, 27-3.

Tailevu staged a fightback but time was not on their side.
