Vinaya Habosi, since his return home, is psyching himself up for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua - Highlanders match at the ANZ Stadium in Suva this Saturday.

The Fijian Drua winger has been scoring tries in almost all the team’s Super Rugby Pacific matches; to score a length of the field try under the sticks can be expected.

“My aim is for the Drua to win, I want to play well and do wonders for our fans if I am selected,” Habosi told SUNsports.

The Corrections officer from Nayawa, Nadroga, played for Namosi in the local Skipper Cup competition.

“I have played for Namosi and scored tries at the ANZ Stadium; if I am given the green light to play against the Highlanders, I am ready. I have psyched myself up to score for Drua and for all Fijians and fans on Saturday.”

He has been hailed by Super Rugby TV commentators for his high work rate and tries scoring abilities.

“Super Rugby is a different ball game,” he said.

Habosi, who is very close to the mother, always has time for her.

“I always get in touch with my mum before I play. She tells me to give my best and that drives me to give my all.”

Habosi now weighs 96 kilogrammes. He was hitting 90kg when he first joined the Drua camp, last November.

“Despite the weight, this speed can still do the magic. Give me any space and you’ll see,” he added.

Habosi signed a two-year contract with the Drua franchise.

He listed his best Super Rugby try against the Queensland Reds at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia. His closest team mate is fellow Namosi team-mate and second five eight, Kalaveti Ravouvou.

“We always motivate each other and that is why we combine well.”

“The best is yet to be seen from the Drua side as we round up our debut year.”

He is also calling on Drua fans to turn up in big numbers on Saturday. The match kicks off at 4.35pm.
