Arieta Tanono is the Kadavu women’s rugby star winger in this year’s Royal Tea Ranadi Cup competition.
She has been scoring tries in the competition and man-aged to dot one down against Macuata in their 40-18 win at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, last Friday.
The 20-year-old hails for Navosa and was a member of the province’s winning team in 2022 before she switched to representing Kadavu, this season.
Tanono hit the headlines when she was 18-years-old after scoring five tries for Navosa in one of their matches. She also played in the ANZ Marama Championship last year.
She attended Nadroga Central College and left school at Year 10.
“I opted to chase my dream of wearing the national rugby team’s jumper where I can visit other places in the world,” she said.

She was a part of the extended Fijiana women’s sevens training squad for the Commonwealth Games, Rugby World Cup Sevens in South Africa and at the start of the 2022/23 HSBC World Seven Series.
Being the eldest of six siblings and living with her family in the village, Tanono never gave up on her rugby dream.
She is hopeful of the future and her chances of making it to the Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women’s rugby team for next year’s Super W.
“I will keep on working harder because rugby is my passion,” she added.
