Study And Play in New Zealand For Ravunivadra Uluilakeba

Ravunivadra Uluilakeba, 17, departed yesterday to at­tend Sacred Heart College in Auckland on a two-year rugby scholarship.

Assisted by former Flying Fijians centre Seremaia Bai, the former Marist Brothers High School stu­dent has set his target of being part of the Auckland Blues Academy.

“I want to play for the All Blacks one day,” he said.

“I’m proud to get a scholarship to play and study in New Zealand.”

Uluilakeba is the eldest of three siblings from Lakeba, Lau.

He attended Ratu Finau Memorial School and Ratu Finau Secondary until Year 10.

“I came to Suva last year and loved rugby. We don’t play much rugby in Lau,” he added.

He moved to Suva to attend MBHS after his rugby talents were identi­fied by FRU officials.

While a 16-year old he featured in the MBHS U17 rugby league team and U16 Deans competition.

Then he was drafted into the Fiji U16 team that toured Australia.

His mother Melea Musuka, 36 said, “I am happy for my son as only few do get this opportunity. We support him all the way.”
