Mixed emotions, excitement and expectations were the words to describe the Bucalevu Secondary School athletes when they arrived in Suva.

“I was emotional to see the student’s reactions,” team manager Litia Baeta told SUNsports yesterday. “For some of these students, this is their first time in Suva. To see the fast Suva life was a different experience altogether.

“I’m proud and overwhelmed for these kids because this is a dream come true for most of them.” BSS fielded 51 athletes who took part at the Maritime Zone competition at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva.

“So we had to hype them and ensure that they are prepared to have a taste of what the Coke Games is all about.

“The expectation is to win something, it’s just getting our athletes ready and to be confident. “Expectations are there because the school had spent a lot of money for us to come over. “We want to create history so that we have taught these kids to have discipline.”

Meanwhile, event coordinator Naisa Cama said they are finalising the results and they would be releasing it today.
