Suva Remain Unbeaten, Extend Lead On Points Table

The Wallson Suva Women's senior rugby team remained unbeaten after thrashing Tailevu 53-17 at Buckhurst Park on Friday. Suva dominated all areas of the game with Luisa Tisolo and Litiana Lawedrau leading the charge.

What happened: Suva took an early 5-0 lead in the fourth minute with an unconverted try from lock Nelly Mairata. In the 10^th minute Lawedrau broke clear and set-up Mereseini Waqatoki's try at the far end of the try line. The conversion went wide as Suva led 10-0.

Suva continued with their dominance and extended their lead to 15-0. First five eighth Mereani Moceituba ran in their fourth two try as Suva comfortably led 22-0. In the 25th minute Suva halfback, Evivi Senikarivi went over for another try. Tailevu flanker Karolina Vuna copped a yellow card for a high tackle on Suva winger Jiutajia Rokini in the 30th minute. Waqatoki ran through the Tailevu defence to score another try with the conversion being successful.

Halftime: Suva 36-0 Tailevu

Tailevu skipper Priscilla Siata scored in the 47th minute against a 14-member Suva side after hooker Elina Ratauluva was sin binned. Tailevu almost scored their second try but the ball was knocked forward on the tryline. They regrouped and scored two consecutive tries to full-back Ateca Tinanisalasala to narrow the deficit, 36-17. Suva replied with another and extended their lead to 41-7. Vasemaca Raloga added their seventh try. With their offload strength Suva kept on the pressure to score a converted try on injury time.

Comment: Suva manager, Alisi Komaitai said: "For us fitness is the secret. We have been doing off season training and now going on to the fourth round of our training programme. It’s really useful to the girls and we really appreciate our strength and conditioning programme."
