Suva Secure For Semis

Despite Ram Sami Suva’s three consecutive losses in the  Skipper Cup Fiji Rugby championship, they have secured a semifinal spot.

The result of today’s game against Namosi at Buckhurst Park will make no difference says manager Nemani Tuifagalele. After Round 13, the capital-city side sits at number four on the table with 38 points, four points behind Nadroga. Nadi comfortably leads with 53 points, while Naitasiri is second with a 10-point difference.

Suva lost its opening match to Nadi, 20-12, defeated by Tailevu, 20-22 in Round 2 and suffered 26-10 loss to Naitasiri in a double header clash at Naluwai ground in the third round.

“The initial three losses were regrettable but they had set the platform for us to work hard to defend the Skipper Cup this year,” Tuifagalele said.

“The players have had to work hard to get us where we are now. To be in the semis is motivational for our fourth consecutive win in a row.”

In other Round 14 matches, Rewa will host Naitasiri at Burebasaga grounds, Northland take on Farebrother holders Nadroga at Gatward Park, Korovou, while Tailevu take on Nadi at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Yesterday’s ANZ Marama Championship results at Nadove Park, Lautoka: U-19 Lautoka 33 Nadroga 5, Seniors: Lautoka 34 Nadroga 29, Yasawa 19 Naitaisiri 18.
