The Suva Women Under-18 side beat Rewa 3-1 in the second round of the Vodafone U18 Women’s League competition at Fiji Football Academy ground in Vatuwaqa, Suva, yesterday.
Speaking to SUNsports, Suva Women Football Association vice-president Maryangela Berwick said she was happy with the girl’s performance.
“Our girls did as we had expected,” she said.
“They knew that we had a lot of confidence in them and I’m really proud of them. This is just the beginning of the league competition and we look forward to the tough challenges ahead of us.
“Most of the girls are new to this competition as they joined the team this year and still need a lot of work on the development of their skills.
“Fitness is on par at the moment but otherwise the girls are positive and confident to gel as a team and assist each other to better their performance in every game they play.
“Also, I believe it is just a matter of time and coordinating together and hopefully we make it to the elimination round later this year.”
