Tawake, Coates In Waikato Squad

Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua captain Bitila Tawake yesterday pencilled her name in the Waikato women’s 42-member squad.

Head coach and former Flying Fijian captain Greg Smith has included Drua lock Jade Coates.

Coates and Tawake join Fijian-born and Black Ferns prop Tanya Kalounivale.

The pair are not the first from the pioneering side that did the damage in their first Super W season in 2022.

Nippy and elusive Fijiana winger Vitalina signed a three-year contract in May with Toyota North Queensland Cowboys rugby league team for the Women’s National Rugby League competition next year.

Nakore is joined by Fijiana playmaker Merewalesi Rokouono who signed a two-year deal with the club.

Meanwhile the Waikato women’s announcement was made ahead of the kick-off of the Farah Palmer Cup presented by Bunnings Warehouse this Saturday.
