Team Sheraton took out top honours yesterday in the men and women's divisions respectively during the 2022 Hutson Cup Easter competition at the Nadi Bowling Club.
Team Sheraton (David Aitcheson, Rajnesh Prasad, Kaushal Pillay, and Kishan Singh) scored 11 points after losing to Rewa and a draw against with Nadi.
Aitcheson, who was the skip for the side, thanked teams for their participation.
"We were all affected by the pandemic, and bowls sat for some time, now we are achieving this together," he said.
"Moving forward we should start supporting each other. I thank the district teams who returned today after sometime to see bowls resume. We are a small fraternity, but we put our hands together for the sport we love."
Runner-up Rewa (Semesa Tui, Tomu Bale, Rick Eyre, Arome Hae) settled with eight points to claim second spot edging the Deva Nand captained Lautoka for third spot.
Tui said, "We were supposed to be the winner, Sheraton like the other clubs are beatable."
In the women's category, Sheraton (Sheral Mar, Doreen O'Connor, Loretta Kotoisuva and Radhika Prasad) ran undefeated in five games to scoop top spot with ten points.
Runner- up with six points were Suva (Ane Thaggard, Louisa Williams, Cathy Narayan, and Elizabeth Moceiwai).
Three teams Vatukoula, Rewa, and Tamavua were in the third spot for the same number of points. Lautoka settled for two points.
Meanwhile, the tournament had started in Suva in 1926; it has been one of the much-anticipated annual men's tournaments since. For the first time, a women's division was introduced in 2014.
