Marshall Dorovolomo aged nine was one of the youngest table tennis players who took part in the Yeun Lai Hotel sponsored- Fiji Junior Open and Para Championship at Suva’s Vodafone Arena last Saturday.
“I’ve been playing table tennis for a year and I took up the sport because I was inspired by my uncle Rob Dorovolomo who also plays the sport,” he said.
“I hope to represent the Solomon Islands in table tennis when I get older.”
Grandmother Jennifer said she was glad that Marshall has followed her son’s (Rob) footsteps.
“Rob played for the Solomon Islands team, and he played from the age of nine right to 20 before he stopped playing,” she said.
“We want him (Marshall) to continue playing table tennis and I think he is really interested in the sport.”
Jennifer said Marshall was the youngest player in the junior grade.
“I’m so happy for him playing against older players because it will give him confidence and exposure,” she said.
“I am so thankful to Fiji table tennis for allowing my grandson to play in the tournament.”
