'The Beast' is Ready to Win

“James is two fights away from being ranked with IBF (International Boxing Federation). If James wins this fight against Puna, then we’ve already got a New Zealand boxer in mind for him. So, once he wins both these fights, then he is in IBF rankings and that is his pathway to the top.”

Fiji heavyweight boxing champion James ‘The Beast’ Singh is ready to rumble against Sydney-based Puna Rasaubale in their 10-round main bout fight at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, on Friday night.

Singh said nothing is going to stop him from winning the fight against Rasaubale.

“Puna is the talk of the town,” Singh said.

“He said a lot of negative things about me on social media. However, I know how to survive. I know how to win.”

The hard punching Singh has cleaned out the heavyweight division in the country. In his recent fight, he knocked out former Fiji amateur boxing knockout king Semi Dauloloma in the second round.

Rasaubale who arrived into the country last Saturday with his trainer Stephen Driscoll, is keeping a low profile heading towards the fight.

South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP) promoter Fred Chand told SUNsports yesterday that Singh is now serious about his boxing career.

“James is two fights away from being ranked with IBF (International Boxing Federation). If James wins this fight against Puna, then we’ve already got a New Zealand boxer in mind for him. So, once he wins both these fights, then he is in IBF rankings and that is his pathway to the top.”

Chand also confirmed that cruiserweight boxer Sebastian Singh is in the country as he challenges Fiji cruiserweight champion Alivereti Kauyaca. The fight is the main supporting bout with the vacant IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Oceania-Orient cruiserweight title also at stake.

“The winner will take both titles,” Chand said.
