One hundred and twenty-four golfers from Australia and New Zealand will be in action in the 2023 Vuksich & Borich Fiji Legends golf Classics event starting today.

The three competition rounds of the 54-hole pro-am tournament are at the Natadola Bay (one round) and two rounds at the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the more than 60 amateur golfers that are taking part in this tournament to play alongside some great names in professional golf in this part of the world,” said Pacific Golf Management director Richard Ellis.

He added the “Legends” senior professional golf circuit in Australasia has grown over the past five years and now boasts over 70 events for 2023.

“The Australasian Legends tour sees the household names of golf taking part regularly. Players who have won numerous tournaments globally including former British Open & USPGA Champions, Australian & New Zealand Open & PGA Champions,” he added.

The professionals will be playing for AU$50,000 (F$73,720) in prize money and there will be $3000 up for grabs in the amateur division.

Club manager Amitesh Chandra said the senior golfers over the age of 70 can now play all DGRC organised events off the white tee markers.

“What a great way to boost sports tourism in our country, boasting great facilities,” said Chandra.
