Top Golfers Confirmed For North Comp

Fiji Professional Golfers Association (Fiji PGA) secretary Amitesh Chandra said they are making the trip to support the game and the sponsors.

Fifteen (15) golfers including 10 professionals from the Western Division are heading to the A. Hussain Group of Companies sponsored- 93rd Vanua Levu Open at the Labasa Golf Club this weekend.

The two-day event is expected to entice local professionals to play for the $3000 prizemoney over 27-holes.

These include, Tomasi Tuivuna, Lautoka based- school teacher Roneel Prakash, Viliame Sorowale (Denarau), Anasa Seruvatu, Amitesh Chandra, Ba lawyer Vikrant Chandra, Waisake Vati (Pac Harbour) and Taitusi Tuivuci.

Fiji’s number one pro Sam Lee will not travel as he is sorting out his logistics to travel and play in the Development Asia Tour, later this month.

Fiji’s number one amateur golfer, Abid Hussain, will lead the charge alongside Asish Chand, Kavit Karan, Mohammed Faiyaz, Pacific Harbour duo Matt Cauty and William Danford.

Fiji Professional Golfers Association (Fiji PGA) secretary Amitesh Chandra said they are making the trip to support the game and the sponsors.

“Everyone is excited to be playing in Labasa and meeting with the members at the club, all with the aim of growing the game,” he said.

Amitesh added that GM Motors has also contributed towards the professional prize purse.

Furthermore, the Cardo’s Friday’s Animals Fiji single Stableford tee-off today at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club (DGRC) from 7am to 2pm.

The entry fee is $10 which is donated to Animals Fiji and the best score wins a $200 voucher which can be used at Cardo’s.

“We thank Cardo’s for his great support of our club and also Animals Fiji who do such great work. Competitors must have an official handicap to qualify for the prize,” said Amitesh.

Meanwhile, the season’s opening stroke event sponsored by Surf Dive & Ski Watersports Fiji will be played on March 19 at the DGRC.

The Tappoo sponsored- 2022 Woodstock Pro-Am will be played at the DGRC on April 2.
