Town FC Crowned Futsal Champs

The Town Football Club (FC) took out the Fiji Bitter Service Labasa 7s Futsal competition at the Fiji Football Academy in La­basa, in the weekend.

Town FC beat Wainisu­ka FC 9-1 in the final.

It was the first time for the club to play in the Futsal competition.

Club's president Vikash Naidu said result was a remarkable achieve­ment.

"Since the club was formed seven years ago, the players have been

gathering at Khalsa Col­lege in Labasa for train­ing," Naidu said.

"Our motive had been to play to maintain fitness and build on team bonding as we are all work­ing."

He thanked the players for sacrificing their time to play.

The team won $1000, eight teams participated in the competition.

The growth of Futsal in the country have also de­veloped some very good players.

Another interesting sport that is making wave is Beach Football which is similar to Fut­sal. The introduction of the two sports will defi­nitely develop more foot­ball stars in the country.

What many young foot­ballers fail to understand is that futsal and beach football can take them places around the world.
