Preparations to host the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team are underway by the Fijian community in the United Kingdom.

Leading the charge is Fiji’s High Commissioner in the UK, Jitoko Tikolevu who recently has formed a committee to spearhead the move.

Also, former Flying Fijians lock forward Sekonaia Kalou along with the former Fijian rugby players living in the UK are part of the committee.

Part of their initiative is to discuss and plan ways to raise funds for our sevens team who are also the defending champions of the London 7s.

Kalou confirmed to BulaRugby Pasifik, that, “The third and final fundraising drive has been planned on day two of the London 7s, and a special invitation has been extended to Fijian fans and friends of Fiji Rugby to come and share the evening with our players and any financial contribution during the evening would be very much appreciated”.

STARS AGREE TO REQUEST

The Committee also conveyed their gratitude to the Fijian and Pacific Islands rugby players who are currently playing in the UK as they have accepted the committee’s request by donating their autographed club jerseys to be raffled and auctioned.

The players who have accepted a young Fijian born England winger Joe Cokanasiga, Manu Vunipola (Saracens), Api Ratuniyarawa (Northampton Saints), Netani Talei (Harlequins), Semi Kunatani (Harlequins) with a few other players are expected to join the list.

The London 7s will be on May 25-26
