We say thank you to the people of Fiji for celebrating another milestone win by the Team Fiji Rugby 7s Men’s and Women’s teams, incredible feats, the joy in which all of us share.
We also understand that people may want to join in the support by using Tokyo 202 Olympic Games logos and marks on facemasks, t-shirts, stickers and other merchandise.
However, it is our duty to warn people that using the Olympic symbol and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games emblems (including FASANOC’s emblems) on merchandise and other products can result in legal action.
Using the Olympic rings or images from the Tokyo Games breaches various legal rights held by the owners of those marks, the International Olympic Committee and the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
Only official Olympic partners have the right to use these marks and imagery in their communications and on their merchandise. They have earned the right to do this by providing products, services and financial support to help to make the Olympic and Paralympic Games possible – including Team Fiji’s participation at these Games.
So we are asking all Fijians, while enjoying our Olympic wins, to respect the legal rights of those who own Olympic images and logos. In this way we support the Olympic movement and its own significant support for sports in Fiji, which continues in between the four-yearly Games events.
