Australia rugby 7s winger, Solo Vosaicake, is working hard to make the team to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
The 21-year-old’s dad Konisi hails from Vanuabalavu in Lau while mum Maraia is from Ra.
“I am very excited with the boys to be here in Fiji, for me especially because I’m coming back home,” Vosaicake said.
“It is a nice place to play footy where we met Fiji and New Zealand.”
He last played here in 2020 at the Coral Coast 7s tournament at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
Vosaicake then played for the Sydney Two Blues team.
He made his debut for Australia, last October, during the Dubai tournaments of the HSBC World Sevens Series.
“Just as the team was preparing for Dubai I was called in the team and have been with them ever since."
“We have a new coach so we are learning some new systems and new courses."
“This trip is about practice before we head back to the World Sevens Series in a couple of weeks," he said.
“Getting our defence systems right and our attack systems right."
“The ones that we have been practicing in our pre-season."
“If we can get them right then we should be on a good path for the World Seven Series in Singapore.
“Then the other is the selection process where the coach will select the final team."
We have to prove that we can stay in the team."
There is no better way to do it than against the two best teams in the world. Fiji and New Zealand,” he said.
Today’s Results
Fijiana 15-10 New Zealand (Women)
Fiji Babaas 17-5 Australia (Men)
