Fiji Secondary Schools National Rugby League (FSSNRL) Southern Zone president, Akuila Vute revealed that they would be having no elimination round in this year’s competition.
“This is due to the limited time that we have but this will also allow more game time for our teams in each age group,” Vute said.
“We are just trying our best in completing our round robin matches and we will be choosing our best four teams for the national quarterfinals.”
Now into the third round of competition, Vute says, they are an abundance of talented players in the zone.
“This is in the under-15, 17 and 19 grades respectively. This is a positive sign in terms of the increase in interests by schools around Fiji. The competition is getting tough and we are beginning to see some potential players from all these schools.”
Vute added that they are planning a pathway for these players to ensure that they have an effective development programme for them.
