Livewire Hurricanes hooker Asofa Aumua hopes to bring in the much-needed impact from the bench against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua in tonight’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash in Suva.

“We’ve had a good week of preparation and the boys had a lot of fun in the captain’s run,” Aumua said.

“We need to play well and hopefully we get the win as we always strive for the win, no one likes losing.”

Aumua said the players are enjoying their time in Suva.

“We are in a good space right now at the top of the table and we’ll try to stay up there as long as we can.

“We must stay on and not switch off in the game as Fijians can do anything out of anywhere.”

Aumua said their team connection is their biggest strength.

“Our coach Clark Laidlaw has been hard on us on the lesson of connecting with each other and our families as well,” he said.

“To the Hurricanes fans in Fiji, do come down and support us as it’s going to be a good match with Fijian flair rugby. We’ve got some tricks in our sleeve as well.”

Aumua was named Super Rugby Player of the Week after Round 8 of competition.
