Losing in one of last year’s semifinal made the Yat Sen Secondary School boys determined, so they returned a better team this year.

They are now the new champions of the Punjas Digicel schools netball open boys title after defeating St Thomas High School 20-11 in the final at the Vodafone Arena, Suva.

Team captain Osea Baraki said the side has been playing together since last year.

“Losing in the semifinal last year was heartbreaking,” Baraki said.

“I told the boys that this year we got it and we did it.

“It feels good. All that training and hardwork from the beginning of the term until now has paid off.

“We dedicate this win to the teachers, parents and our coaches for supporting us since day one.”

YSS open girls lost to William Cross College 11-14.

In the girls Under 15 grade, Suva Grammar School defeated Jasper Williams High School, 16-13.

U14 was also won by SGS who defeated Niusawa Methodist High School 16-10.
