Former Fiji super featherweight champion Binnu Singh (senior) returns to the ring after and absence of 19 years.

He faces Mohamed Iqbal in a veterans’ bout at the Kings Boxing Promotion at Vodafone Arena in Suva on July 25.

The Nadroga boxer said he was excited to lace up the gloves again after retiring from professional boxing in 2006.

“I’m so excited,” Singh said.

“Preparations have gone well and I’ve been training with my son, who will also be fighting on the same programme.

“I had hung up my gloves, but I’m back and looking forward to a good fight.”

Singh said the opportunity to compete again was about challenging himself.

“Even though I have retired from the ring, it’s always good to test your limits.”

He also called on boxing fans to support the promotion.

“I would like to invite all boxing fans to come out in numbers and support local boxing.”

Singh compiled a professional record of 12 wins by knockout, 10 losses and three draws during a career that began on December 20, 1997 before ending in 2006.

His last professional bout was against Ruben Kennedy at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka in April 2006.
