FMF IDC returns to Ba after 10 years

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA), in partnership with the Ba Town Council and with the support of the Ministry of Local Government, is delighted to announce that the 2025 FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC) will be staged at the iconic 4R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.

This marks the tournament’s return to the football-crazy town after a 10-year absence. 

The decision follows a mutual agreement reached today between the Fiji FA and the Ba Town Council. 

The move comes after an earlier announcement that the tournament would be held at Lautoka’s Churchill Park due to the non-availability of floodlights at the 4R Stadium. 

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf confirmed the development, stating: “At the expression of interest of the Minister for Local Government and Housing, Maciu Nalumisa, the Permanent Secretary, and the Ba Chamber of Commerce, we are pleased to announce that the FMF IDC is coming back to Ba after 15 years,” Yusuf said. 

“Floodlights will be installed at the 4R Stadium for night games, all matters have been resolved, and an agreement has been signed.” 

Fiji FA president, Rajesh Patel, expressed his excitement about the return. 

“Ba has a proud footballing history, and the FMF IDC’s return will be a special moment for players, fans, and the community as a whole. We thank the Ba Town Council and the Ministry of Local Government for their commitment to making this possible. We also urge fans who have already booked accommodation in Ba to keep their plans intact,” he said. 

Ba Town Council special administrator, Moshin Khan, echoed similar sentiments. 

“The people of Ba are football crazy and will be thrilled to watch top-class football action once again at Govind Park and the upgraded 4R Stadium.” 

The Fiji FA and Ba Town Council have committed to ensuring that all necessary facilities will be ready ahead of the tournament. Further announcements regarding match schedules, ticketing, and event details will be made in due course.
