Hosts Suva have bombed out of the Courts Interdistrict Championship after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Lautoka last night.
The Babs Khan-coached side needed a win to qualify for tomorrow’s semifinals but it was not to be.
After a scoreless first half, Suva took the lead in 66th minute when striker Christopher Wasasala headed in the opening goal.
But their joy was short-lived when Malakai Rakula rifled the ball past Suva goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara for the equaliser.
Suva coach Babs Khan said they wanted a win but did not make use of their chances.
“We cannot blame anybody,” he said.
LIONS QUALIFIES
Meanwhile, Labasa have topped Group B by beating Ba 2-1 last night.
The Babasiga Lions led 2-1 at halftime with goals from Ilisoni Lolaivalu and Taniela Waqa while Samuela Drudru pulled one back for Ba.
