Labasa continues lead on points table

Labasa maintained their lead on the Extra Premier League points table after beating hosts Nadi 3-2 at King Charles Park yesterday.

Dubbed the Babasiga Lions, they also led 2-1 at halftime. Labasa’s goals were scored by Ashnil Raju, Rex Naime and Melvin Mani.

James Abana scored twice for Nadi.

The Alvin Chand-coached side secured three points to strengthen their position in the EPL. Chand praised his players after the match.

“I thank my boys for a job well done,” he said. “Getting a win and three points was very important for us, espe cially in the league.

I am grateful for the win.” Nadi assistant coach Gurdeep Singh said his side performed well despite the loss.

“We just made a few mistakes, but that’s part of the game. We’re happy with the performance of the boys. We missed some regular players through injury, and we re ally missed them but we’ll have to come back stronger next week end.
