No suspects after 8000 marijuana plants seized

No suspects have been identified following the seizure of close to 8000 marijuana plants in the Northern Division last week.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that investigations were continuing following the operation at the Bilobiloca farming area.

However, no one has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the raid was made possible through information shared with Police, which led to the deployment of a drone that confirmed the cultivation site.

The seizure involved close to 8000 plants believed to be marijuana.

ACP Vusonilawe said community support remained critical to the success of drug operations, helping Police identify illicit cultivation sites and make arrests.

“The sharing of information is indicative of community support towards law enforcement efforts, and the Fiji Police Force extends its appreciation for the consistent support towards crime prevention efforts,” he said.

He said Police operations targeting drugs were multifaceted, with officers also looking for other offences during deployments.

ACP Vusonilawe said this ensured a holistic approach to tackling crime in communities.

Police are continuing efforts to identify those responsible for the cultivation.
