The Labasa Under-16 football side celebrated their success in a presentation ceremony held in Vunivau, Labasa last weekend.
The Baby Lions won last year’s Northern Division Youth U16 title after defeating Seaqaqa Youth 1-0 in the final.
Labasa Youth U16 coach Shalendra Swami said the presentation was organised to award the players.
Swami said the players were really dedicated.
However, he mentioned the team had struggled a lot during the preparation for limited resources.
Swami hopes to build a good team and retain the Northern Division Youth title for the second year running.
He said last year’s U16 Champion verses Champion tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but he was confident that this year’s event would be played.
Swami said eight players from his team were part of the Fiji U16 side and he was confident that more players would get a breakthrough again this year.
Former Labasa football coach Roneel Lal was the chief guest at the celebration.
“I think the development structure is going well and I hope it’s been revised by the officials”, Lal said
