The Fiji Gujarati Sports Association football tournament ended with a high note when FMF Lami One (pictured) beat Lami Two 2-0 in the final at Saraswati College ground in Nausori yesterday.

Lami One team manager Sanjeev Chauhan told SUNsports their team had prepared well for the three-day tournament.

“I’m happy with the boy’s performance as we had a young team,” he said.

“Out of the 20-member squad, about 13 of them were under the age of 23. They’ve got a long way ahead of them.”

Chauhan said their preparations had started from August last year and they were aiming to win the tournament. He added that the last time they won the tournament was in 2024.

He also acknowledged the fans for supporting their team throughout the three-day tournament.

In the first semi-final Lami One defeated last year’s runners up FMF Suva 1–0, while Lami Two defeated FMF Rewa 1-0 in the second semi-final.
