The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School Under-15 football team is aiming to secure a place in the Southern Zone final when they face Vunimono Secondary School in today’s play-off at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, coach Chrishant Goundar said the team has prepared well and is ready for the challenge.
“The players have trained consistently and we have focused on improving fitness, teamwork and discipline,” he said.
“The boys are motivated and looking forward to playing a strong Vunimono side. We have also worked on our finishing, communication and maintaining possession under pressure. The players know the importance of staying focused throughout the match and avoiding simple mistakes.”
Goundar said he expected a competitive contest and was confident his players would rise to the occasion.
“We expect the boys to give their best, play with confidence and represent MGM High School with pride. If they stay disciplined, work hard for each other and stick to the game plan, we believe they can achieve a positive result.”
He also called on parents, teachers and supporters to cheer on the team.
“We thank our parents, supporters, teachers and the entire MGM High School community for their encouragement.
Their support means a lot to the players. We invite everyone to come and support the boys as they give their best on the field.”
