Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said players and officials needed to be vaccinated in order to partake in any future competitions once restrictions were lifted.
“We have advised all district officials and all football players, they need to be vaccinated , then only they will be allowed to play in the Fiji football competitions,” he said.
“Now’s the time to get prepared and wait the Fijian National Sports Commission to give the okay.”
He said players and officials would be permitted to take part in competitions if they had received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“Well, you need to get your first jab and then the second jab is after eight to 12 weeks. The first jab also helps you, you know, and that has been proven it’s the scientific research,” he said.
He said most players had received their first dose and were now awaiting their second dose of the vaccine.
