The Lincoln Rewa football team is on a mission to hoist the Extra Battle of the Giants tournament title on Sunday at Subrail Park in Labasa.

This was confirmed to SUNsports last Sunday by player/coach Tevita Waranivalu.

Rewa beat Ravindra’s Transport Suva side 2-0 in their final Group B match.

Dubbed the Delta Tigers they had won all their three group matches to finish at the top. This has placed them as top favourites to win the B.O.G.

However, they’ll face defending champions Paradise Seafoods Lautoka in the semi-final on Saturday.

Speaking to SUNsports, Waranivalu said they want to lift the trophy when the dust settles this weekend.

“We had our moments in the game and executed it when it mattered,” he said.

“There are areas we will have to work on but we’ll take each game at a time.” he said.

Waranivalu said despite topping Group B, it would not affect their game.

“We are happy with what we have achieved so far. The boys have dug deep and worked hard to ensure the wins,” he said.

Rewa has scored seven goals in the competition without conceding a goal.

”We will resume training. No team is perfect, we have to work on our mistakes and prepare for the semifinal,” he added.

Waranivalu reiterated that they came to the tournament with one goal to win it.

“There is no victory without sacrifice and yes we want that cup,” he added.
