Roy: Away Game Is Tough

The Roy Krishna captained- ATK Mohun Bagan FC side will leave no stones unturned in tomorrow’s clash against FC Nasaf in Qarshi, Uzbekistan, in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup inter-zonal semi-final.

Roy who is also the Digicel Fijian football captain told SUNsports that they are expecting a tough game since they are the visiting team.

“It’s very important for the club to win this match to progress to the next stage,” he said.

“For me personally, it would be a major achievement if we go all the way.

“It’s going to be a difficult match because they have some good foreign players and also they have already started their league.

“We’ve only got together last month and we have some players who have just joined us this week as well. This is because of travel restrictions.”

Roy added that having to compete with a well-trained team like FC Nasaf would be a challenge but they are ready.

“Definitely playing away is not an advantage for any team, so they will have the advantage of being at home and getting the support of the home crowd. “This doesn’t make our work easier but it’s pushing us to work extra hard and give our all, no excuses.”

The India based- side have been training in Dubai this week, acclimatising to the weather before they depart for Uzbekistan.

“Training is going well. It’s quite hot here but we are working hard on improving our fitness level

so we can be ready for the match.”

Krishna added that the players are in high spirit.

“We have no injuries so we have the luck of a full squad with a solid bench,” Roy added.
