After seven years of dating Labasa football rep Ashnil Kumar Raju married Shawashni Lata at the Khatriya Hall in Labasa yesterday.
The couple met while they were attending Khalsa College.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Raju said they had a long and healthy relationship which was based on trust and respect.
“I knew from the first day that she was the right girl for me and my family,” said the Labasa College teacher.
“It is her kindness, generosity, love and support that I needed through the journey.
“I was little nervous when I approached her but all I need was yes which she agreed to.
Shawashni is a nurse at the Labasa Hospital.
“We went through a lot of challenges in life. We wouldn’t have made it this far without her support. She is the girl my family was searching for,” Raju added.
The crafty midfielder confirmed last night that he is playing in today’s Vodafone Fiji FACT semifinal clash against Suva.
