Rizwan Mohammed Wins Ba Open
This would have been held last year to coincide with Fiji’s 50th Independence Celebrations in October but had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rizwan Mohammed took out the 50th RC Manubhai sponsored Ba Open Championship at the Rarawai golf course in Ba on Sunday.
The Suva based amateur champion in his own right carded 143, two shots ahead of Ashish Chand (145) during the two-day event which attracted 80 golfers in the country.
The 35-year-old bank officer won his first major title during the 2015 Tiffany’s of Canada Western Open Championship at the same venue. He also won the RC Manubhai Suva Open in 2017 to name a few of his accolades.
Enterprising Jyoti Lal claimed the overall net and Monish Raj took out the runner-up prize.
Furthermore, Lautoka based Roneel Prakash took out the professional category with a prize purse of $900, ahead of industrious Sam Lee.
Prakash said, “There was a grand field out there and I thank my sponsors for their ongoing partnership.”
RC Manubhai managing director Dinesh Patel said it was their Golden Jubilee event which was a momentous occasion as the sponsorship began when Fiji gained Independence.
“This would have been held last year to coincide with Fiji’s 50th Independence Celebrations in October but had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
He added this was the longest sponsorship for a sporting event in Fiji.
“The Ba Open has grown to be the biggest tournament on the Fiji golfing calendar. RC Manubhai conveys its gratitude to all the golfers who have supported us all over the years.
Other winners: SVC student Ryna Kumar claimed the women’s gross category with his mother and school teacher Sunita Kumar.
Yash Kumar claimed the junior category while most of the golf prizes went to Ravinesh Chand.
DGRC manager Amitesh Chandra said there were a few big weekends of golf ahead at Denarau, starting next week with the Gospel School for the Deaf 4 person charity ambrose.
The Woodstock Pro-Am is scheduled for March 13 where pro plays for $5000 prize money and amateurs play for $2000 worth of prizes with a field of 96 players.
Followed by 3-Person Elimination Ambrose in aid of Ronald McDonald House of Charities TC Yasa on March 20.
