The Samabula Primary School Under-11 netball team will focus on improving their basic skillset and knowledge on the rules of the game.

This is despite their 4-3 win over St Marcellin Primary School in the Suva Primary Schools Netball Association’s weekly competition at the National Netball Centre last Saturday.

Coach Hannah Tuikoro said it was their first year and for most of her players it’s their first time to play the sport.

“We taught them the simple rules, and we told them to enjoy their game,” she said.

“We’re going to go back and teach them the basics of netball and hope they improve going forward.” Tuikoro said it was important for her players to learn and improve in every game.

“We got a great support from our parents since it is the first year that Samabula Primary is participating in this grade,” she said.

“It was the execution of the basics of netball which made us win the game.”

Tuikoro commended the work rate of her young shooters.

“I told them to enjoy the game and feel the intensity with their peers from other schools. I’m im-pressed with the support from the parents for this team.”
