Fiji is set to take centre stage in the global surfing spotlight as the World Surf League Championship Tour returns to Cloudbreak for the 2026 Fiji Pro presented by Corona Cero.

The competition will be from August 25 to September 4 and bring some of the world’s best surfers.

Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Paresh Pant said the event would provide another major opportunity to promote Fiji as a world-class tourism destination.

“The event will spotlight Fiji’s world-class surfing and provide another important opportunity for the tourism industry to showcase our destination to a global audience,” Pant said.

He also urged tourism industry operators and visitors to take note of official notices regarding temporary closures and access restrictions around Cloudbreak and restaurants during the competition period.

The restrictions are expected to form part of arrangements to ensure the event is conducted safely and smoothly while providing the necessary space for competitors, officials and event operations.

Pant said the Fiji Pro was part of broader activity supporting the country’s tourism momentum.

He said this included record visitor numbers, stronger collaboration within Fiji, new international partnerships, market engagement and innovation overseas.

“Most importantly, they reflect the people and partnerships helping to keep Fiji’s tourism momentum moving forward,” he said.

The return of the Championship Tour also reinforces Fiji’s position as one of the world’s premier surfing destinations, with Cloudbreak providing a globally recognised backdrop for the competition.

The World Surf League will hold its official Fiji Pro press conference at 10.30am on August 24, a day before competition begins.

The event is expected to attract international attention and further expose Fiji’s tourism, sporting and hospitality sectors to a global audience.
