$10k sponsorship boost for Tailevu ahead of Lautoka clash

“The sponsorship will enable TRFU to expand programmes in communities, strengthen club rugby, and provide structured training for players, coaches and referees. The $10,000 backing of Standard Concrete Industries is going to boost Tailevu in today’s Skipper Cup clash against hosts General Machinery Lautoka at Churchill Park.

The sponsorship was announced yesterday by the Tailevu Rugby Football Union president Joe Rodan (Snr).

Standard Concrete Industries is a division of Basic Industries (Pte) Limited, and its premium brand Humes.

Rodan said the partnership marks a new chapter for TRFU as it continues to strengthen grassroots development, expand career pathways for players, and build a stronger future for rugby in Tailevu.

“On behalf of the Tailevu Rugby Football Union, I wish to sincerely acknowledge Standard Concrete Industries for this generous sponsorship,” he said.

“The partnership empowers us to invest in grassroots rugby, nurture the talents of young men and women, and create structured career pathways that align with our 2025–2030 business plan. This partnership is not just about sponsorship, it is about building champions on and off the field for the province of Tailevu and Fiji at large.”

In recognition of this historic partnership, the TRFU will be known as the Standard Concrete Tailevu Rugby Football Union for the remaining Skipper Cup and Marama Cup competitions organised by the Fiji Rugby Union.

As part of this rebranding, the men’s senior team will compete as the Standard Concrete Tailevu rugby men’s senior team, the Under-20 team will be called the Standard Concrete Tailevu U20 team, while the women’s senior team will proudly take the field as the Humes Tailevu women’s senior team.

Rodan further emphasized that this $10,000 sponsorship directly supports the TRFU’s 2025–2030 business plan, which places a strong emphasis on grassroots rugby development, career pathways and gender inclusivity.

“The sponsorship will enable TRFU to expand programmes in communities, strengthen club rugby, and provide structured training for players, coaches and referees. It will also support the creation of clear career pathways for athletes, coaches and administrators, ensuring that young men and women from Tailevu have equal opportunities to progress from grassroots to elite rugby.”

Rodan added that the partnership with Standard Concrete and Humes represents more than financial support; it is an investment in people and in the future of rugby in Tailevu.

“It is an acknowledgment that rugby is more than just a game, but a platform to inspire discipline, leadership and unity across communities.”

The Lautoka- Tailevu kicks-off at 3pm.
