It was quite an emotional victory for Ba rugby captain Saimone Tagitagivalu, who led his side to create history when they defeated Nadi 31-24.

The Skipper Cup round four clash at Prince Charles Park in Nadi last Saturday was Ba’s second win so far; their first win against Tailevu, 24-13 in the third round.

Tagitagivalu who hails from Nailaga, Ba native, said it was very important for the team as a whole to slay the Giants at their home ground.

“We want to be, setting our goal to be in the top eight this season, so we tried to win this to maintain and focus on our minor goal,” he said.

“The message was to bring up the mindset and not stay in the club team level, but be here and compete and trust what we have been taught.

“With what we have been taught, we can defeat all those big teams like Nadi, and we were close against Nadroga. The magic was caused in the last 20 minutes of the game as there was a lot of pressure on both ends.

He thanked Nadi for always being a dominant side.

Nadi Rugby Union vice president Jeff Tamata said the side was gracious in defeat and will hit the drawing board.
