Fijian Drua development player Sikeli Basiyalo is making good progress with the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s sevens rugby team at the Asian leg of the HSBC SVNS.
Basiyalo was part of the Osea Kolinisau coached- side that lost narrowly to France in the Cup semi-final of the Hong Kong Sevens.
“I was stoked for the young man and it was disappointing that they did not to get to the final and win it,” Jackson said.
“They had a good game and a very tight game against France. Congratulations to Oscar and the boys. I thought it was a couple of seconds away from going into the final.”
Jackson said if Fiji had made the final anything could have happened.
“We were real proud of Basiyalo and his performance and it’s been a good partnership hopefully with the Drua and the Fiji sevens team.”
Former Fiji men’s rugby sevens team who are now in the Drua squad includes Elia Canakaivata, Meli Derenalagi, Iosefo Masi, Selestino Ravutaumada and Ponipate Loganimasi.
The Fiji sevens team plays at the Singapore Sevens this weekend.
