Outgoing Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has taken the blame of their 35-50 thrashing to the NSW Waratahs in Saturday night’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash at Suva’s National Stadium.

Jackson made the comment during an interview after the match.

“There is no one else to look at and I’ll take the responsibility,” he said.

Jackson said the team had let the public down because of their poor performance.

“The Waratahs were good; the referee was good and we didn’t perform to our very best,” the 50-year-old said.

Meanwhile, Drua co-captain Temo Mayanavanua said they were very disappointed with the result as they wanted a win for the fans.

“We would like to apologise for the performance we put up. It wasn’t good enough. We talked about it as people who pay big money to come and watch the club perform. We weren’t good enough today and we are very disappointed,” he said.

Mayanavanua said that despite the loss, they hope that the fans would continue their support towards the team for the remaining two away games against the Brumbies on Saturday followed by the Reds on Friday, May 29.

“We have two away games before us and we will try and pull in tight and create history. We’ve already done it against the Brumbies. We basically showed the nation and showed it within ourselves that it is possible. So if the fans can back the boys up,” he said.

He said they were all hurting together as a team but he has told the players to come in on Monday (today) as they are ready to roll again.
