Mesulame Dolokoto’s goal for the season is to improve as an individual player and team.

The Fijian Drua hooker said this will be crucial as the side prepares for the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

Dolokoto believes success will come down to winning the small moments, particularly in matches played away from home.

The Drua did not win any of its away games last year.

“ Into this year, I think the improvements that I need to work on, and I think as individuals and as a team, is just trying to win those small moments and get connected in those moments,” Dolokoto said said.

He said playing at home makes it easier to control key phases of the game with the backing of the crowd and familiar conditions, but away fixtures remain a major challenge.

“It’s easy to win those moments at home when you have the crowd and the heat behind you,” Dolokoto said.

He added: “But when you’re away in foreign territory, you have to find the motivation within yourself to push for the win.”

Reflecting on the 2025 season, Dolokoto said the Drua were often competitive late into matches but struggled to close games out.

“Most of the games last year, we were in it right until the final 15 or 20 minutes,” he said.

He added: “Those were the moments where we lost it. Since the first few weeks of training, we’ve been focusing on winning those moments away from home individually first, and then as a team.”

Dolokoto said the lessons from last season have shaped the team’s mindset heading into the new campaign.

“That’s something the boys have taken into this year.

“When we’re away, it’s about staying connected towards the end of the game, finding that drive and will to win those moments. If we do that, the result will take care of itself.”

Dolokoto previously made three appearances for Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship during the 2020 season, scoring 15 points. He joined the Fijian Drua in 2022 and has since made 33 appearances, scoring two tries.
