The Mokani Rugby Club and Eastern Saints Rugby Club received sponsorship support from law firm Fa & Company during a handover ceremony at its headquarters in Suva last Friday.

Speaking to SUNsports, Fa & Company head Isireli Fa said the sponsorship was aimed at supporting young people and creating opportunities for them through rugby.

“I think the reason why we are into sponsorship, and why we’ve increased our sponsorship to $20,000 is because we believe in the young people of our country,” he said.

“We believe in our youths and we believe that we must do whatever we can to help them.”

Fa acknowledged that $20,000 may not seem like a large amount, but indicated that directing such funds to teams committed to developing Fiji’s youths would help make a meaningful impact.

“By investing our $20,000 in youth development through Mokani Rugby and Eastern Saints, it can be viewed as seed money. It is a seed that we plant with the two teams, and it is important that the management of both clubs use that seed wisely and effectively,” Fa said.

Meanwhile, Tailevu Rugby Union and Mokani Rugby Club president Joe Rodan Snr expressed his appreciation for the sponsorship, saying it would help provide incentives for players.

“Fa & Company has been sponsoring us for the past four years, and because of the team’s strong performances, they have continued their support this year,” Rodan said.

He added that the company’s support extends beyond financial assistance.

“Besides providing funds to our club, they have also supplied jerseys, muscle vests, trousers, socks, rugby balls, tackle bags, and other equipment. In addition, they contribute around $250 weekly towards player and spectator incentives. These rewards are given to the best player, best tackler, and best supporter each week,” he said.

Rodan said the sponsorship plays an important role in motivating both players and supporters while strengthening community involvement in the club.
