Siva Naulago’s stunning second try against Worcester Warriors has been shortlisted for The Famous Grouse Gallagher Premiership Try of the Week for round 12.
The Fijian flyer scored a hat-trick in the 24-23 win for the Bristol Bears to top the table with 46 points.
His third and winning try won praise from Bears Director of Rugby Pat Lam.
“The late try was testimony to what we always say, don’t panic, it is an 80 minute game and keep working and the system is the solution,”Lam said.
As for Naulago, who doubled his try scoring tally for the season to move up to six in the Premiership, Lam’s message will terrify defence coaches up and down the land.
“He is just getting better and better. We have to remember he has been in league for a couple of years and he hasn’t had a pre-season and he is learning the game again but he is so coachable,” he said.
“He is picking things up all the time, he is just getting better and better and scored three outstanding tries.”
Naulago tries came from a pinpoint cross-field kick from Callum Sheedy, another from the Welsh international’s lazer point looping pass and a third of sheer individual talent - handing off an attempted tackler and then speeding away from the entire Worcester backline.
Lam’s side came back to win 23-24 away at Worcester with a squad missing 16 players, including marquee men Semi Radradra and Charles Piutau.
The Bears host Wasps in round 13 on Saturday at Ashton Gate Stadium.
