Fijians In Queensland Country Side

Two Fijians have been named in the Queensland Country team after impressive performances for their Fraser Coast Mariners side this season.Former Natabua High School students Jona Wesiniciba and Gaunadina Lotawa have been plying their trade with the Mariners for the past two seasons.
Wesiniciba and Lotawa, both 22-y were part of the Island Breeze Rugby Plus programme and have been based out of Hervey Bay hence represented the Fraser Coast Mariners side.
Island Breeze Rugby Plus Director Waqa Baravilala said. “They have been working hard in the off-season and their selection is testament to their commitment. The boys have been with the Island Breeze Rugby Plus programme for the past two seasons and have been impressing selectors with their performances this season, so it doesn’t come to us as a surprise.” he added.
Wesiniciba plays halfback while Lotawa is a utility back.
Furthermore, other players who have secured selection through the Island Breeze Rugby Plus programme include former Wallaby Sefanaia Naivalu, Melbourne Rebels NRC player Kitione Ratu, Save Kobiti Waqalutu and current Queensland lock Seru Uru who spent some time in Melbourne before moving to Queensland.
