Momo returns: Drua winger cleared for Super Rugby comeback
“I’m cleared now and I look forward to some outing soon with the bigger picture at the pre-season match against the Chiefs. I think I have waited for too long and it’s time for action. I now enjoy full-scale training at the homebase.”

Versatile Fijian Drua winger Epeli Momo is ready to play in next season’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition.
Momo makes his return to the side after he missed out the 2025 season when he copped a knee injury during the Sun Bell 10s tournament at Prince Charles Park, Nadi. He had to undergo an extensive knee surgery with Meli Derenalagi.
“It was sad, but I had to follow the rehab process and it worked,” Momo told SUNsports on Wednesday.
The lanky back knows that he has to work hard to earn a spot in the starting line-up. Momo will be competing against talented players like Ponipate Loganimasi, Taniela Rakuro, Manasa Mataele, Ilaisa Droasese, Isikeli Basiyalo and Aisea Nawai.
“I’m cleared now and I look forward to some outing soon with the bigger picture at the pre-season match against the Chiefs. I think I have waited for too long and it’s time for action. I now enjoy full-scale training at the homebase.”
Momo said a highlight for next season is when the Drua plays the Brumbies at his home ground at Govind Park in Ba.
“It’s going to be exciting to play there,” he added.
Momo has two tries for the Drua and played four Test matches for the Flying Fijians.
