The Naitasiri rugby team is testing the depth of their squad as they take one match at a time.
Technical director Ilaitia Tuisese (Jnr) said they rotate players in and out of the team every week as they have a wide pool of players.
They will head to the North tomorrow to take on Macuata on Saturday in their Skipper Cup round six clash at All Saints Secondary School grounds.
“Every week we try to put in new boys to try out and challenge themselves,” Tuisese Jnr said following their win against Lautoka last Saturday.
“We are trying to test the depth of our squad as we have injuries as we go. We have to create depth.”
The Highlanders are hoping to build on from last week’s performance; they have booked four wins so far while Macuata bagged their first win against Vatukoula last Saturday.
“All teams are the same. We have to prepare like it’s our last game,” Tuisese Jnr said.
“We have to keep working hard. A lot of work ons to do.”
Koicolo Cooperative
Meanwhile, the Naitasiri Rugby Union (NRU) has ventured into establishing their commercial arm Koicolo Rakavi cCo-operative to help rugby clubs take care of their members’ welfare through farming.
They’ve also launched an exclusive line of merchandise where every purchase goes directly toward the welfare and support of its players.
They also sell souvenirs mugs, stickers and bags and these are sold at their games’ venues on Saturdays.
Koicolo Rakavi cooperative chairman Meli Rokobici said NRU is taking this step forward not to rely heavily on sponsorship grants from Fiji Rugby Union and other business houses.
